Shahid Afridi is a Pakistani cricketer. His full name is Sahibzada Mohammad Shahid Khan Afridi also well known as Boom Boom Afridi born in Khyber Agency, FATA, Pakistan on March 1, 1980 (age 34). He played 350 One Day Internationals, 27 Tests, and 59 Twenty20 Internationals for Pakistan National Team. He played more ODI cricket then any other Pakistani cricketer. He is best known for his batting style. He complete ODI century in just 37 deliveries, which is the world record for fattest ODI century. He also grips the distinction of taking hit the most number of sixes in the ODI cricket history. He was a better bowler then batsman, he considers himself. He has taken 48 Test wickets and over 350 in ODIs. Afridi contracted to play for Sydney Thunder in Australia’s Twenty20 Big Bash league. Afridi took over the Twenty20 captaincy from Younus Khan. Later he was chosen ODI captain for the 2010 Asia Cup. Pakistan team played against Sri Lanka under his captaincy, he scored century in his first match as ODI captain however Pakistan still lost by 16 runs. He also took the Test Captaincy but resigned after 1 month in charge citing lack of form and aptitude to play Test Cricket, at this time he was announced retirement form Tests. He led the Pakistan team in the World Cup 2011. Afridi was replaced as captain, having led Pakistan in 34 ODIs in May 2011. Later that month he announced the conditional retirement from international cricket in objection against his treatment by the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board). But, in October, he upturned his decision.
