Laura Ling is an American journalist who is known for her work with several American television channels including Channel One News, MTV, Current TV, and Discovery Digital Networks. She was detained in North Korea and sentenced to 12 years of hard labor in 2009 for crossing the border of Democratic People's Republic of Korea from the People's Republic of China without a visa along with fellow journalist Euna Lee.
