Early lifeKaty Tur was born as Katharine Bear Tur on 26th October, 1983 at Los Angeles, California in the United States of America. She is an American by nationality and White American by ethnicity. Tur is the daughter of Zoey Tur and Marika Gerrard. Her parents were also journalists. She grew up with her parents and her brother, James. Tur got her early education from Brentwood School in 2001. She completed her graduation from University of California, Santa Barbara with B. A in philosophy in the year 2005. She can speak Spanish fluently.
CareerKaty Tur can be known as an adventure journalist because she used to work as a storm chaser for the Weather channel. It was a risky job and she risked her life many times while covering the storm. In 2009, Tur joined NBC news which was at NBC's station, WNBC TV. She became widely popular for covering the death of Canadian musician and actor Cory Monteith. Cory was famous for his role as Finn Hudson in the Tv series called Glee. He had died because of the effect of drug which consisted alcohol and heroin.
Katy Tur also got into the limelight when she covered the breaking news of MH-370 search. MH- 370 was Flight 370 of Malaysian airlines which disappeared on 8th March, 2014, when it was flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. The flight consisted of 227 passengers and 12 crew members. There were 38 Malaysian passengers, 125 Chinese passengers and other passengers belonged to 13 different countries.
The disappearance of MH- 370 has been considered as a great aviation mystery. All the passengers and crew members are considered dead now but the MH-370 plane has never been found. Katy Tur has also worked in another TV series in 2013 which was titled The Cycle. She appeared on the show, MSNBC Live in the following year. She also worked in the television series titled Rundown as a television correspondent. After that, Tur worked at News Nation with Tamron Hall as a correspondent too. At present, Katy Tur is working as a news correspondent in different television series like NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, Today and Weekend Today.
