Serena Altshul was born on October 13, 1970 in New York City, New York, United States to Siri von Reis and Arthur Altschul, who are author and botanist, and a former partner at Goldman Sachs. She comes from a Finnish, Swedish and Jewish ancestry. Serena spent most of her childhood days with her brother, Arthur Altschul jr. and sister, Emily Helen Altschul. From her father’s previous marriage, she has two half-brothers. Serena went on to attend Scripps College and studied literature.
Serena began her work at Channel One News as an anchor/report. She then was associated to MTV in 1995. She began working for MTV News. Since then, she has hosted MTV news: Unfiltered, Breaking it Down. Serena is known to have hosted and produced True Life. She went on to work for CNN and then for CBS News as a contributing correspondent. She has also appeared on CBS Sunday Morning.
